History

Silver Resort in Arjeplog has its roots in the rich history and culture of the region.
Our journey began with the establishment of Krajagården in 1896, built by carpenters “Finn-Anders” and “Finn-Samuel.” The building has served as a doctor’s residence, a forester’s house, and a care home for the Sámi elderly until 1925. In 1956, the municipality of Arjeplog took over Krajaudden, turning Krajagården into a hostel with accompanying cabins. In 1977, the property was converted into an inn, followed by the addition of a lakeside restaurant in 1982. Hotel Silverhatten later acquired Kraja and has since preserved its rustic 19th-century charm.

Our philosophy is to offer genuine experiences that reflect the unique culture and nature of Arjeplog. By blending tradition with modern comfort, we strive to create a destination where guests can experience the best of Lapland, from breathtaking landscapes to local gastronomy and year-round activities. Our history inspires us to continue delivering authentic and memorable stays for all our visitors.

1896
Krajagården was built in 1896 by the carpenters “Finn-Anders” and “Finn-Samuel”. The building, which had been both a doctor’s and a forester’s residence, became a retirement home for the Sámi who were incapacitated in 1914. This function was held by the building until 1925.
